In Austria, a “climate ticket” for public transport valid for the entire federal territory is likely to be launched on the national holiday, October 26. Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) apparently reached an agreement with the provinces of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, which are still outstanding.
The department head will announce details together with the respective state governors at a joint press conference today. With the “Klimaticket Now” it is possible to use any scheduled transport (public and private rail transport, urban transport and transport associations) in a given area.
It will be available from October 1 in advance on Klimaticket.at, at all counters of ÖBB and Westbahn and also at all sales points of the participating associations. At the start, it will be offered at a 15 percent discount. From the start of advance sales on October 1 until the national holiday, it will thus cost 949 instead of 1,095 euros for one year.
